Vikas Mittal is a Principal Software Engineer at Walmart Global Tech based in the San Jose Bay Area, focused on designing and scaling cloud-native, distributed platforms that power Walmart’s retail and e-commerce ecosystem at massive scale. His work spans high-throughput API platforms, partner ingestion/orchestration systems, and core commerce services—built for resilience, low latency, and operational clarity in real-world retail environments.  Over the last 8+ years at Walmart, Vikas has architected systems enabling Walmart to sell 60M+ items online, processed billions of API/partner requests daily, and modernized legacy workflows into real-time, event-driven platforms. Most recently, he built a real-time signage platform that processes millions of events daily and replaced legacy mainframe-driven processes using a hybrid-cloud approach with GCP Dataflow. He also holds multiple cloud certifications (Azure and Google Cloud) and has a deep engineering foundation from earlier roles across enterprise platforms and Java-based ecosystems.
